Drug Den RCS
Drug Den - remote characterisation system

Drug Den, 2001. Video with sound 5 mins.

A camera-based, remote characterisation system investigates and transmits film from a woodland
clearing. As the vehicle manoeuvres in and around the clearing, a scattering of paraphernalia for
‘getting high’ becomes evident. The video was filmed syncretically, whilst listening to the electronic
soundtrack by Sonofapup, which guides the rhythm of filming and is included in the final video.

Vizualiser Videos #1-4 2004

The 'Vizualiser Videos' were auto-generated from electronic music using software plugins

All music by Sonofapup

Left: Vizualiser video #3 was auto-generatedusing the Tech RTA live visual plugin, which translates sound into a multi-channel sound level meter. The improvised soundtrack was made in 1996 using Quicktime instruments and the OMS test facility. In this version, each mouse click triggers a random permutation of notes and sounds from a total of 128 possible instruments. The player can only affect the rest between notes and the sustain (by keeping the mouse button depressed).
